For ordinary desktop MFM and IDE drives, 528MB was the limit. If you wanted more storage than that, the only answer was SCSI, which was just too expensive for most people.
Eventually, a revised IDE standard using Logical Block Addressing (LBA) came along, but that wasn't until 1995. In the meantime, the 528MB barrier meant that the biggest new drives and the smallest new drives were not very far apart in capacity. These are drives from that period.
